Article (A, An, The) এর ব্যবহার মূলত নির্ভর করে এর পরের Sounds (উচ্চারণ) এবং Position (অবস্থান) এর উপর।

➤ VOWEL SOUNDS: A, E, I, O, U (এ, ই, আ, ও, ঈ)
উচ্চারণের সময় ফুসফুস থেকে উৎপাদিত বায়ু বাধাপ্রাপ্ত হয় না।		 An Apple, An Elephant
➤ CONSONANT SOUNDS: Vowels বাদে বাকি সব
উচ্চারণের সময় মুখ গহ্বরের কোথাও বাধাপ্রাপ্ত হয়।		 A Book, A Car
Rule 01 Indefinite Article (A / An)
Condition / usage Example
➤ সাধারণত vowel sounds এর পূর্বে an বসে এবং consonant sound এর পূর্বে a বসে।

➤ কোন শব্দের উচ্চারণ যদি U "ইউ" অথবা "ওয়া" এর মতো হয়, তাহলে এদের পূর্বে a বসে।

Rule 02 Definite Article (The)
Condition / usage Example
➤ Superlative degree এর পূর্বে the বসে & তুলনা বুঝাতে Comparative degree এর পূর্বে the বসে।
He is the tallest boy in the class.
Tarannum is the better of three girls.
➤ Season (ঋতু) বা দিকের নামের পূর্বে বসে।
After Summer comes the rainy season.
The sun rises in the east and sets in the west.
➤ ভৌগোলিক নামের পূর্বে the বসে। He had completed his degree from the U.S.A.
➤ ঐতিহাসিক উপনামের পূর্বে the বসে। The French Revolution was a historical moment.
➤ Ordinal number এবং তারিখের পূর্বে the বসে।
George Everest was the first man to survive.
The 16th December is our victory day.
➤ পৃথিবীতে যে সকল বস্তু একটি মাত্র আছে, তার পূর্বে the বসে। The sun rises in the east.
➤ Musical Instruments এর পূর্বে the বসে। A snake charmer was playing on the flute.
➤ নির্দিষ্ট করে বোঝালে তার পূর্বে the বসে। (the + noun + of...) The gold of this ring is pure.
➤ কোন নাম দ্বিতীয় বার উল্লেখ থাকলে তার পূর্বে the বসে। It is my phone. The phone was bought from Kandirpar.
➤ ধর্মগ্রন্থ, পত্রিকা, মহাকাব্য, নদী, সাগর, মহাসাগর, পর্বতশ্রেণী, দ্বীপপুঞ্জ, জাহাজ, বন ইত্যাদি নামের পূর্বে the বসে। The Al-Quran, The Daily Sangram, The Padma, The Atlantic.
➤ জাতি, সম্প্রদায়, বংশ, পেশা, পদবী, উপাধি এর নামের পূর্বে the বসে। The English, The poor, The Pathan, The police, The Government.
Rule 03 Omission of Article (Cross ×)

➤ স্রষ্টা এর নামের পূর্বে Article বসে না ALLAH, GOD
➤ ভাষা এর নামের পূর্বে Article বসে না ENGLISH
➤ রোগ এর নামের পূর্বে Article বসে না CHOLERA
➤ যানবাহন (By + Vehicle) এর মাঝে Article বসে না BY BUS
➤ দিন / মাস এর নামের পূর্বে Article বসে না SATURDAY, MAY
➤ খেলার নাম এর পূর্বে Article বসে না CRICKET
➤ খাবারের নাম এর পূর্বে Article বসে না BREAKFAST
➤ ব্যাক্তি / স্থানের নাম এর পূর্বে Article বসে না DHAKA, ROBI
